Date for new council election likely
to be changed to Dec. 9

The Johnston County Board of Elections is gearing up for a redo of last year's botched Town Council election, but it has its sights set on a new date Dec. 9.

County Attorney Mark Payne told the board Thursday afternoon at its monthly meeting that when a final order for a new election is issued next week by the State Board of Elections, it won't be for Nov. 4, the date the state board selected two weeks ago for the new council election. [more]

A local mother is grateful this week for a quick response by Clayton police Saturday that ended with an arrest of a suspect that drove off with the mothers car and two infants in the back seat.

But she is also furious over the lack of response by onlookers whom she begged for help when she saw her car being driven away from a daycare in Clayton Town Center. [more]
